Welcome to Maple Class
Teacher: Miss Kayleigh Cartmell
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Cathy Daniels
Maple Class is the penultimate class at Kirkham and Wesham Primary School. It is an exciting year filled with interesting topics and concepts in a warm and nurturing environment.
Throughout the time spent in Maple Class, we will learn about Ancient Greece, the Amazon Rainforest, Ancient Mayans, Space and we will also delve into research about a variety of inventors.
Our PE days are on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, and children should come into school wearing their PE kits.
We are lucky enough to be able to take part in Forest School sessions on a Thursday morning in Summer 1 term, these will be led by Mrs Gemma Smith who also teaches Cedar Class.
In Summer, we will be visiting a museum to enhance our knowledge of concepts learnt in history and science lessons. Information for this will be sent out with plenty of notice.
At KWPS, we are keen readers and encourage children to pick up a text as often as possible. Reading at home as well as in school is essential and we ask that this is done every night if possible. Every half term, we will be focusing on a new class novel, which will link to learning across a range of subjects. Reading for pleasure is also encouraged and we have a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books in our school library and class reading area.
Alongside daily reading, we ask that spellings and times tables are actively revised.
We look forward to supporting and encouraging your child's learning throughout their time in Maple Class.
Thank you
